The Waldorf School of Santa Barbara

Where there's a will, there's life. Where there's life, hope abounds.

Thanks to the generosity and expertise of parent volunteer Jeff Nighman we were able to bring life into our school front. Jeff is part owner of SB Natives and offered to donate, design and install our new garden.  He and I worked together to plan this event, which materialized very quickly with the help of GUSD.

Jeff donated a beautiful native Santa Cruz Island Ironwood tree along with many natives to Santa Barbara, grasses, succulents, sages and more.

This is a NO WATER, completely native and drought tolerant demonstration garden.  All the classes (2nd through 8th grade) helped with prepping and planting.  The stones came from Santa Barbara Stone who gave us a generous discount and free delivery. The large boulders came as a donation from one of our generous families.

We are very excited and proud of this new garden space.  We hope to continue integrating more of the campus in this way in the near future.
