Arts and Drama
In a Waldorf school the arts are an integral part of the curriculum. The arts support the development of the growing emotional core of each child by engaging the feeling life. All students learn to paint and draw, sculpt, sing and play the recorder. In addition the children learn to play a stringed instrument and read music, generally beginning with the violin in the third grade. The development of each artistic skill follows a natural sequence from year to year and all of these endeavors supplement and reinforce the main lesson curriculum.
Every year each grade presents a play that is related to the academic focus for that year. The children all participate in every aspect from costume creation and set building to acting one or more parts. It is a tremendous feeling to watch your child take the stage with skill, confidence and enthusiasm.
