Math

Though the subject matter is similar to what is taught in other schools, in Waldorf Schools the approach is different. In grades one through five math lessons developed by the class teacher are used, rather than standard textbooks. Then in grades six through eight, individual math textbooks are introduced to prepare the students for their transition to high school and to teach more complex subject matter, such as algebra, plane geometry and solid geometry. However, the Middle Grades students are still challenged through such assignments as the precise practice of geometric drawings, leading to the construction of the Platonic solids.
