Immediate positions available:


Pedagogical Chair, 3/4 time 

Class Teacher, Grade 4

Strings Teacher, Grades 4-8, part-time


Pedadgogical Chair. General description and goals for the position:  The Pedagogical Chair will be a servant leader who facilitates the fulfillment of duties and responsibilities held by faculty.  The Pedagogical Chair’s main role will be to lead the faculty in upholding its policies, agreements and decisions, flagging areas that need attention, teacher mentoring, and supporting the faculty in their administrative tasks.  The Pedagogical Chair will work in collaboration with the faculty, board of trustees, administration and parent group, upholding healthy lines of communication, initiating follow-up on concerns and sensitive issues while providing the community with pedagogical understanding, inspiration, and insight.

Grade 4 Class Teacher, for 2014-15 School Year


The Waldorf School of Santa Barbara is seeking an experienced Waldorf class teacher for the rising Grade 4 class who can lead a class with enthusiasm and warmth.  Excellent classroom management skills, effective communication and professional striving are a priority.  We value individuals with leadership skills who form strong relationships in the classroom and the school community.  Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree and a Waldorf Teacher training certificate.  Experience as a Waldorf Class Teacher with an acute understanding of the curriculum is a requirement for consideration.  A commitment to take the class through Grade 8 is desired.


The Class Teacher is a full-time salaried position.  Our faculty compensation package includes a competitive salary, with benefits including medical, dental, tuition remission, paid holidays and professional development opportunities.

Strings Teacher, Grades 4-8, Part-time


The Waldorf School of Santa Barbara is seeking a part-time Strings Teacher who will be responsible for providing instruction to children in Grades 4-8 beginning September 2014.  The ideal candidate possess an ability to cultivate a joyful rapport with our students while successfully training students who are curious and passionate to explore our diverse musical heritage.  The candidate should deliver a dynamic, lively and well-structured curriculum in a learning environment that is engaging and enlivening while bringing a solid foundation of classical technique, music theory, music arrangement and basic instrument maintenance to support the students’ endeavors.  Classical and folk training with experience and appreciation in a variety of musical genres is desired.
