Hike-a-Thon April, 2022

Dear Member of The Waldorf School of Santa Barbara Community,

On April 29th, from 9 a.m. to noon at Toro Canyon Park, we will hold our annual Hike-a-Thon.

Our Hike-a-Thon is the major WSSB fundraiser led by our students. The beauty of this invigorating, joyous, community-building event is that it gives our children the opportunity to set a personal challenge for themselves (a certain number of miles hiked/run) while being of service to their school.

This year the Hike-a-Thon will be held at beautiful Toro Canyon Park in Carpinteria. All families are invited to participate. Some notes about the day are below (and more details will be shared in the coming weeks):

* Our goal this year is $20,000, or $200 per student.

* Our goal is 100% participation from all WSSB families.

* Please share this link with your family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues: Hike-a-Thon Donations.

* We will meet in Area 4 (the far end of the park). If parking is tight, you may need to park in a different area. There will be signs guiding the way.

* Snacks will be provided for the children but please bring water bottles and sunscreen.

* You may want to bring a picnic blanket and picnic lunch for after the event. Many families hang out -- after the hiking/running which officially ends at noon -- enjoying lunch together on the grass.

* Please note there is no aftercare provided on this day.

* Early Childhood families are welcome to participate, but our EC little ones will need individual parent/caretaker supervision. (More EC- specific notes will be shared by EC teachers.)

* Volunteer opportunities for this event abound: help with set-up, breakdown, sign-making, baking bake sale items, and playing live music.
