The community is invited to join us for a free public talk with George Hoffecker and Donna Burgess “Insights about Waldorf Education” on Wed, Jan 29th, at 6pm at the Waldorf School of Santa Barbara (7421 Mirano Dr., Goleta).

George Hoffecker will lead a conversation exploring the idea and critical necessity of becoming a “free human being” in our times and the important contribution that Waldorf Education can make to this process.

Donna Burgess will lead us in community dancing after the talk!

An educator for 47 years, George was a class teacher at Live Oak Waldorf School for many years, principal of the first Waldorf-inspired charter school in the nation, principal of a charter high school, adjunct faculty member at Rudolf Steiner College, Director of Charter School Services for elementary school district and lectures on Waldorf education at schools throughout the West. He is co-founder of The Alliance for Public Waldorf Education and currently is a member of the Alliance’s advisory board.

His training with Marshall Rosenberg in Non-Violent Communication and with John Kinyon and Ike Lassiter in applying NVC to mediation and conflict resolution strategies is at the heart of his approach to establishing compassionate classrooms and faculties. In addition, David Cooperrider’s “Appreciative Inquiry” has deeply informed George’s approach to developing healthy social organizations. For the past several years he has been working as an educational and organizational consultant along with his wife Donna Burgess in their firm, Hoffecker Burgess Consulting.
