Carolyn Kaster
Carolyn Kaster has been a dedicated member of the WSSB community since 1996. Over the years, she has served as an early childhood teacher, a grades teacher completing two full eight-year cycles, and now as Head of School. Her long-standing commitment to Waldorf education and to WSSB is at the heart of her work.
Carolyn grew up exploring the woods and fields surrounding a small village in England as the youngest of five children. She later moved to Santa Barbara, where she completed high school, college, and graduate studies. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and an M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University. Prior to joining WSSB, Carolyn ran a home-based, Waldorf-inspired childcare program and worked as a family therapist and teen counselor/advocate with several local agencies.
Carolyn completed Waldorf teacher training and later pursued the Art of Administration training through the Center of Anthroposophy. She has taught in teacher education programs at the Waldorf Institute of Southern California and has served for many years as a liaison to the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America. Carolyn is the proud parent of two grown children, both graduates of WSSB, and is now a grateful grandmother to three young grandchildren.
