4th grade Curriculum

Besides the prerequisite practice lessons in language arts and arithmetic, our Waldorf students have the pleasure of enjoying two lessons per week in the following subjects: 

Spanish, Handwork; hand sewing (cross-stitch, embroidery, and other stitches), four needle knitting, and machine sewing, Woodwork (learning how to make useful and imaginative items through the proper use of hand and machine tools), Flute and Recorder, Strings Orchestra, Gardening, Games and Sports.

  • WORK IN GRAMMAR CONTINUES WITH THE FOUR TYPES OF SENTENCES AND INTRO TO THE EIGHT PARTS OF SPEECH; COMPOSITION WRITING BUILDS FOR RESEARCH AND STORY SUMMARIES, SPELLING AND VOCABULARY; RECITATION AND ACTING.

  • INTRODUCTION TO THE WORLD OF FRACTIONS.

  • ZOOLOGY: COMPARATIVE STUDY OF HUMAN BEINGS AND ANIMALS; FINS, WINGS, HOOVES.

  • LOCAL AND CALIFORNIA GEOGRAPHY AND HISTORY; CULTURAL STUDIES: NORSE MYTHOLOGY AND FINNISH KALEVALA

  • EMBROIDERY; CROSS STITCH

  • SINGING TWO-PART SONGS; ORCHESTRA: STRING INSTRUMENTS

  • SPORTS; GAMES; FOLK DANCING

  • SPANISH

  • PAINTING, FORM DRAWING: CELTIC KNOTS; PENCIL DRAWING; ILLUSTRATION
