Welcome to the New Year!

We had a beautiful Rose Ceremony to start the first day of school for the Grades. The first graders crossed the Rainbow Bridge to shake hands with their new teacher, Ms. Tara, and to be greeted by an 8th grader with a red rose. Each Grade teacher then shared a glimpse of their new school year with their classes, and finally we closed with all other teachers and staff joining in a song.

Thank You's for Our EC Yard Refresh

This summer, our Early Childhood yard had a complete refresh! Thanks to the support of a few generous donors, we have created an updated, beautiful, and practical space for our classes.

The center piece of the yard is the mud kitchen. This was made possible through the generous donation of an anonymous donor, as well as an in-kind contribution from alumni parent, Guner Tautrim of Seaborn Designs, who designed and constructed the piece. Here Guner describes the project:

The mud kitchen is crafted primarily from salvaged urban timber, including Deador Cedar, with accent elements made from Madrone and old-growth Redwood reclaimed from water tanks. The butterfly inlay was created by Naomi Enright. Two all-natural finishes were used to protect and enhance the wood. Tried & True, a blend of polymerized linseed oil and beeswax, was applied to the redwood staves. Heritage Oil, made from linseed oil, tung oil, citrus oil, and pine rosin, was used on the remaining wood.

This project reflects a collaborative effort to create a durable, natural, and thoughtfully crafted addition to the Early Childhood Education environment.
